The Beaumont Police Department is looking into a deadly accident where a motorist hit and caused the death of a pedestrian crossing the Eastex Freeway service road.
Sergeant Tom Swope from the BPD Community Relations department verified for KFDM/FOX 4 News that Robin Claridy, aged 59, was hit by a vehicle around 1:30 PM on Saturday when she was crossing the Eastex Freeway service road near Dowlen Road, close to Casa Ole.
Sergeant Swope mentions that Claridy passed away at a medical facility.
After the crash, the driver came to a halt.
According to police, Claridy attempted to cross when conditions were not safe for doing so, despite vehicles being in motion at the time.
The traffic division of BPD is looking into the incident.
