From NASCAR:
The Huntersville (N.C.) Police Department verified Hattori’s demise in a statement released on Monday, noting that law enforcement officials were dispatched to a crash involving two vehicles on NC Highway 73 around 9:15 a.m. Eastern Time on Saturday. The initial probe conducted by the department suggests that Hattori’s 2025 Toyota Crown was moving westward when it veered across the median line into opposing traffic lanes, leading to an impact with another car.
As stated in the announcement, Hattori was declared dead at the location. Law enforcement officials do not think that speeding or intoxication played a role in the accident. The case is still being looked into.
Our condolences go out to the friends and relatives of the notable NASCAR team owner on this Monday.
